General Environmental Organizations

The Sierra Club host the National Cool Cities website, which offers important resources and information for New Jersey activists. The New Jersey chapter website also offers important information on issues in the state.

Environment New Jersey is the new home of NJPIRG's environmental work, focusing exclusively on protecting New Jersey's air, water and open spaces. Environment New jersey is a leader in developing and promoting global warming policies in Trenton.
The Association of New Jersey Environmental Commisssions offers important resources for municipal efforts to protect natural resources and promote smart growth in the state.

Energy and Sustainable Building

 

The New Jersey Clean Energy initiative, administered by the NJ Board of Public Utilities, provides information and financial incentives to help New Jersey residents, business and communities reduce their energy use, lower costs and protect the environment

The Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Program describes federal incentives, resources, and information that can support local efforts.

The New Jersey Global Warming site highlights what is being done about global warming, provides an energy masterplan, and encourages individuals to get involved.
The New Jersey chapter of the US Green Building Council offers invaluable infomation and support to help you plan, design, construction, and operate buildings that are environmentally responsible, cost effective, productive, and healthy places to live, learn and work.

Smart Growth

 

The New Jersey Department of Community Affair's office of Smart Growth offers important resources and information for building more sustainable growth in your community.
New Jersey Future was founded to achieve smart growth statewide: growth that protects New Jersey’s open lands and natural resources, strengthens our communities, makes it easier to get around, and increases our housing choices.
The New Jersey Smart Growth Gateway provides information for New Jersey citizens on how to implement some of the most successful smart growth strategies in their towns, as well as information on where these techniques have worked, why these techniques are necessary, and how to get assistance to implement these techniques.
