Cool New Jersey is a collaborative effort of the New Jersey Chapter of the Sierra Club and faculty and students at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. This site is intended to facilitate coordination, education, and empowerment of Cool Cities efforts in the Garden State.
All over America, communities are taking action to help solve global warming. From hybrid vehicle fleets, to green buildings, to offices and homes powered with renewable energy, local governments are moving forward with innovative solutions that curb global warming, save taxpayer dollars, and create healthier cities. At a time when the federal government is failing to act, these local leaders are moving America toward a safer and more secure future.
Cool Cities are municipalities that have made a commitment to curb their greenhouse gas emissions by signing the U.S. Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement. The Cool Cities campaign helps cities turn their commitments into action by pushing for smart energy solutions.
Professor Patrick Hossay at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey developed this website and directs the Cool New Jersey project at Stockton College, providing research support and training for local Cool Cities groups and projects throughout the state.
